Happy New Year 2012 and New Year of the Water Dragon
All's back to normal rythem
For the past 10 years or so we have had the classes somewhere out in nature, ie. beach or a park. Well let's try something new. Each Wednesday (21 & 28 December 2011 and January 4 & 11 December) there is training class in MORDIALLOC at the usual time 6.30pm until 8pm. Students on the day will help decide what's on but we may be experimenting with some ideas for the theme weeks in 2012! So, escape all the mayhem and family madness for just a couple of hours and come to Shaolin Kung Fu training. We promise not to make it too much hard work (unless you want to!).
New Years Eve Invitation to ALL members and friends
Traditionally, we invite our students to share a couple of hours with us on 31 December. We have an open house from 9pm to 1am and are happy to see you (and friends) pop in for a drink and some well-wishing. You can stay and toast the new-year or you can just pop in and have a drink and chat with us! We (Dagmar and i) would love to see you, members, friends, former Academy members....you get the drift! No bookings, just show up between 9pm and 1am 31/12! Oh and the address is 1085 North Road, Hughesdale, not too far away from the corner of Warrigal Road sown towards the beach. See you then... or in training!

Is it time to 'freshen' your uniforms?
The Shaolin Academy uniform is great and makes people look good. it was designed that way. We know of many people who wear it as leisure wear because it is comfortable and tough. So it might be time to refresh your uniform, especially for summer and especially-especially if you train more than once a week.
As you know, we do not do any specials. That would be unfair to the people who paid full price for the uniform so the following are the standard prices that will be maintained until the current crop of uniforms runs out!
We also congratulated all our Naughty Students of 2011, those who reached their 100, 200, 300, etc, naughty classes. From these Disifu John (pic center with cap) reached his 3000th (yes three thousands) class and Sihing Anthony (2nd from left looking right) and Daniel (pic right), completed their 1500th class.
We also acknowledged student who had completed their 10 years of membership and are still active, including; Sihing Douglas, member since 1996, Sihing Luke, member since 1996, DiSifu member since 1999, James C member since 01, Sifu Matthew, members since 01
Finally we held a raffle. All members who were present received 10 free tickets. Additional tickets were available for a dollar.

2011 Summer Grading's Gray Sash
to the right is the full recording of the gray Sash grading from Monday 5 December 2011, 6.30pm Mordialloc. It is unedited and all the material that was recorded is represented here.
If you graded, you can have a look at your Grading's feedback sheet and see exactly what the examiner gave you which mark for. Anything you would like to review or you are not sure about; e-mail Sijo and mention the time index of the item you wish to have reviewed.
We had two cameras running, one on the left side and one on the right side; if you were not recorded with the one camera click on the "Video Content Listing" (bottom right of the WEB video screen [click here for a listing of videos]) and you will see the 4 listings of the Left Side Camera and the 3 Listing of the Right Side Camera. Click on any of the and it will immediately start playing that recording and go through to the end.
2011 Summer Grading's White Sash
Same as in the Gray Sash; you can view the grading first from the one camera side and then the other or you can bring up the Video Record listing and start on any of the files. All the other controls work as usual, play, pause, fast forward jump (moves forward a few minuted) and fast reverse jump (moves back....)
A Suggestion
It is a unique possibility to see your grading from the view of the Examiners. At the very least you can see what the feedback means and as the most, if you ever choose to become part of the KungFu Instructor in Training (KIiT) Program, you will understand which feedback to give and which to leave for another time. As usual, to much is just as damaging as too little feedback/information.
